Why do we need a hepatitis C vaccine?
Chronic hepatitis C infection and its sequelae generate a huge global burden to health systems. In all parts of the world, it affects marginalised communities with poor access to healthcare. Although, the DAAs represent a major advance in clinical care the new infection rate continues to exceed the treatment rate globally as in low and middle incomelow- and middle-income countries in particular, as the cost of the drugs and the health infrastructure preclude widespread treatment

HCV Vaccine Network
The HCV Vaccine Network (HCVax) was established to bring together world leaders in hepatitis C research foster development and deployment of an effective HCV vaccine. The network aims to resolve gaps in research for previous vaccine candidates and promote the development of a new vaccine that prevents HCV transmission in line with the WHO vision to reduce the prevalence of Hepatitis C as a public health threat up to 90% by 2030
